TARGET GROUP DISCUSSION (FGD): GOAL REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN STUDY AREA (SOUTH SABAH - PENANG - NORTH SILVER)
On October 2, 2013, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held at the Hotel Park Avenue, Sungai Petani for the preparation of the Draft Regional Plan Review Final Report (South Kedah - Pulau Pinang - North Perak). This discussion has been managed by the Regional Plan Unit, Division of Regional Planning (BPW).
Discussion was held to seek the views of technical agencies in identifying priority issues, coordinating regional development directions and recommendations as input in the preparation of the Regional Plan. A total of 30 technical agencies were involved including the consultant study of the Environmental Planning Group (EPG).
The discussion begins with a welcome speech of welcome by the Project Manager, Mrs. Hazizah daughter of Solomon and then briefed by the Chief Negotiator, Mr. Bane Sahrir bin Zainal relevant research findings. Each technical agencies are divided into 4 groups: Group 1- Regional Land Use Sector, Group Communications and Transport Sector 2-, 3- Group Infrastructure and Utilities Sector and Group 4- Sector Management and Implementation.
In the afternoon presentation session was held to present the results of group discussions. Among the issues for the Group 1- Regional Land Use Sector is a regional pretend food imbalance in which only focused on the development of Penang and Kedah south than in northern Perak. Some early development strategies have been proposed to compensate for the overall development of the region. For 2- Group Communications and Transport Sector, the road network coordination pretend food issues and the proposed new airport in Kulim District was also raised during the presentation. While for the 3 Sector Infrastructure and Utilities, among the main issues highlighted were issues basin management bordering rivers such as the River Young and Sungai Kerian. For the Group Management and Delivery Sector 4-, discussions coordination between regional development agencies and local authorities as well as the establishment of the Regional Planning pretend food Committee (JPW) were also discussed. The study is expected pretend food to be completed by the end of November 2013 and in early December, the Technical Committee will be chaired by the Deputy Director of Planning. Functions of the Technical Committee is to consider, approve pretend food and recommend Draft Regional Plan Review Final Report (South Kedah - Pulau Pinang - North Perak).
