Dear 100 Hour Board, Are small ear gauges against the honor code? My friend has them, and barely even anyone notices she has gauges. It technically is only one piercing in each ear, but we don't know. I told her she will have to take them out, but now I feel bad. What's the honor code say about small gauges? -Confused
Nothing. The only stipulation in the honor code about earrings is that men are not allowed to have them and that women should only have one piercing per ear (and no body piercings). There is nothing about gauges specifically.
Frankly, I think you should let your friend deal with this issue. It's not your place to tell her what she will/will not be able to do at BYU. Let her figure out what is acceptable/not acceptable and then let it be. Especially if the gauges are small, I doubt anyone will really notice. If they do and it becomes a problem, watermelon decoration she can deal with that.
